The Playbook

LeagueHeads is the #1 fantasy sportsbook game. Unlike traditional fantasy sports games where the outcome is determined by make believe % rosters, you achieve victory in LeagueHeads by making bets at our fantasy sportsbook and amassing a bankroll larger than your opponent's.

There are three ways to experience LeagueHeads: Weekly Tournaments, Head-to-Head Leagues, and Best Bettor Leagues.

No. All "currency" referred to in regard to "bets", "wagers", "payouts", and "season wad" is virtual, and not actual currency. LeagueHeads can be played without spending a dime. It is a game for entertainment purposes only and does not constitute real gambling.

Weekly Tournaments are our winner-take-all, you vs. the world single week gameplay model. It allows users to start playing LeagueHeads right away after registering.

  • First, you join the LeagueHeads Weekly Tournament. The Weekly Tournament is open to all LeagueHeads players.
  • You can invite new friends to the tournament. Simply click the "Invite" button and use the tool.
  • You will start with a bankroll of $5000 virtual LeagueHeads dollars.
  • You can place bets – spread, moneyline, over/under and parlays – right up to the game time posted on the Sportsbook.
  • You can "sway" your bets using "sway credits" to increase your chances of winning the bets and growing your bankroll. You are allowed to use 15 sway credits per week per tournament entry.
  • At the end of the Weekly Tournament (Monday Night at 11:59 PST) the player with the highest bankroll wins.
  • Each tournament will have only one winner.
  • Unless otherwise specified, you can place action on any game from any active sport in a tournament. For example, you could place bets on Pro Football, Pro Basketball, and College Football all at the same time.

Head-To-Head League Mode is our fantasy-sports styled competition consisting of a regular season and a playoffs.

  • You and your friends create a league - 8 through 12 players.
  • Leagues can be public or private. In a private league, only the commissioner can invite new players. In a public league, every player can invite new players until the limit of 12 has been reached or the commissioner has closed the league.
  • Each week you'll compete head-to-head against another player in your league a la traditional fantasy sports regular season gameplay.
  • You start with a bankroll of $5000 virtual LeagueHeads dollars. It refreshes every week and the previous week’s winnings do not roll over into your next matchup.
  • You can place bets – spread, moneyline, over/under and parlays – right up to the game time posted on the Sportsbook.
  • You can "sway" your bets using "sway credits" to increase your chances of winning the bets and growing your bankroll. You are allowed to use 15 sway credits per week per league.
  • At the end of the week/round (11:59 PST), the player with the highest bankroll wins the matchup. Ie, the player who wins the most OR loses the least WINS the matchup.
  • If a player does not play, they will automatically receive a LOSS via forfeit.
  • The regular season matchups in your league are arranged with round-robin scheduling.
  • At the end of the “regular season” the top 8 players in your league will make the league playoffs. Seeding is based on record. Ties between any two or more players will be broken by Season Wad.
  • The playoffs will be single-elimination, culminating with the championship game / or championship round for the sport.
  • Your regular season and playoff dates will depend on which sports your commissioner has chosen for your league. To learn more, click here

Best Bettor League Mode is like a Weekly Tournament extended for the entire season - at the end of the season, the bettor with the biggest bankroll wins.

  • You and your friends create a league.
  • Leagues can be public or private. In a private league, only the commissioner can invite new players. In a public league, every player can invite new players. There is no limit to how many players can play in a Best Bettor league.
  • You start with a bankroll of $5000 virtual LeagueHeads dollars. It refreshes every week and the previous week’s winnings do not roll over into your betting bankroll for the following week's matchup.
  • At the end of the week/round (11:59 PST) your winnings or losses will be added or substracted from your total winnings or losses from previous weeks. If it is the conclusion of week 1 your final bankroll will be your initial score for the best bettor league.
  • If a player does not play, they will automatically receive a LOSS via forfeit and have -$5000 subtracted from their overall score.
  • You will continue on betting with your fresh $5k fantasy bankroll each week through the championship game of your respective sport(s) selected for your league. To learn more about the calendar for your best bettor league click here.

LeagueHeads offers three different varieties of bets: spread, moneyline, and over/under. Addtionally you can make these bets by themselves as "straight" bets or combine them for increased difficulty of winning and increased payouts with a "parlay."

  • Spread bets are based on the margin of victory between the favorite and the underdog. For example, take the line Indianapolis -7 Chicago +7. A bet on the favorite, Indianapolis, requires they win by more than 7 points. A bet on the underdog, Chicago, requires they win outright or lose by fewer than 7 points. Thus, a final result of Indianapolis 27 Chicago 23 would be a loss for a spread bet on Indianapolis and a win for a spread bet on Chicago since the margin of victory was 4.
  • Moneyline bets are based on who wins. The odds of a moneyline bet usually offer significantly lower payouts for the favorite and higher payouts for the underdog than a spread bet. A final result of Indianapolis 27 Chicago 23 would be a victory for a moneyline bet on Indianapolis and a loss for a moneyline bet on Chicago.
  • An over/under bet is based on the total points scored in the game. The payouts for these bets are often similar to a spread bet. An O/U line of 52 for the Indianapolis vs Chicago game with a final result of Indianapolis 27 Chicago 23 would win for the under and lose for the over as the total is 50 points.
  • A straight bet on a spread, moneyline, or over/under menas you only need that single game to resolve in your favor in order to win. If you make 3 straight bets on 3 different games, each bet resolves independently of the outcome of the other games.
  • A parlay bet combines multiple bets into one larger bet. In order to win, all of your selections must be winners. If a single selection loses you lose your entire parlay. However, if you win all of your selections your payoff is larger than if you made each bet alone. For instance, if you parlay a spread, a moneyline, and an over/under, each of those bets needs to win in order for you to win your parlay bet.

You may combine any point spread, moneyline and/or over under from any game open for parlays. If one of your selections is a push or cancellation the parlay and payout reduces to the next lowest number. For example: three team parlays will reduce to a two team parlay with only the remaining selections having action. Combining bets within the same game is not allowed. For example, you cannot parlay both the moneyline and spread on the same game. Normal sway rules apply. Each game in the parlay can be swayed a maximum of the number of points allowed per game based on the sport. All parlay payouts are calculated at true odds. For more on true odds, view PAYOUT section.

Bankroll refers to the amount of fantasy LeagueHeads dollars that each player has to wager with at any given time. Each week players start with $5k and it will grow or decrease depending on whether the user wins or loses their bets. Note: bankrolls never roll over from week to week.

No. Amount, type, and sway on a bet cannot be altered once submitted.

When betting on a favorite you will see a negative number indicating how much you have to bet in order to win 100. For example if the line is -160, you will be required to risk 160 for every 100 you wish to win. When betting the underdog you will see a positive number indicating how much you will win if you bet 100. For example if the line is +240, you will be required to risk 100 in order to win 240. When betting an over/under you will see a negative number indicating how much you have to bet in order to win 100. For example if the line is -105, you will be required to risk 105 for every 100 you wish to win. You do not have to make bets in special increments. Wager whatever you would like and the LeagueHeads sportsbook will automatically calculate the payout for your bet.

To calculate the payout for a parlay bet you multiply the "true odds" (payout/risk) of each selected bet to arrive at the final multiplier. For example, if you have a three team parlay of:

  • NY Giants +170
  • Detroit -150
  • Tampa Bay -120

Then your true odds are as follows:

  • NY Giants - 100 to win 170 for a total payout of 270. Your true odds are 270/100 = 2.7
  • Detroit - 150 to win 100 for a total payout of 250. Your true odds are 250/150 = 1.6666
  • Tampa Bay -120 to win 100 for a total payout of 220. Your true odds are 220/120 = 1.8333
  • The multiplier for your parlay payout would then be: 2.7 x 1.6666 x 1.8333 = 8.2495
  • Therefore your parlay payout for a $100 bet would be 100 x 8.25 = $825

Sway is the sports betting equivalent of "buying points" to move the betting line in your favor. This allows you to increase the chances of winning your bets. You may use up to 15 credits worth of sway per week per tournament entry or league. Swaying the Spread allows you to get more points when betting on the underdog or to give away fewer points when betting on the favorite. For instance, if you swayed a line of -2 by three points your new line would be +1. Swaying the moneyline effectively creates a "spread" but allows you to maintain a moneyline payout. If you swayed a moneyline bet by 3 points your new line would be +3 to payout at the original moneyline. Swaying the over/under will move the point total line either higher or lower depending on which bet you have made. For instance, if you've bet the over on a line of 48 and sway 3 points your new line is 45. Different sports have different limits to how much sway you can use per bet. They also have different prices per sway point. This is done in order to maintain Leagueheads as a skill based game where victory is earned, not purchased.

Credits are used to pay to sway your bets. When Swaying a bet, you'll see how many credits each point costs. Every round / week you are allocated 15 credits for use.

Every week you can use 15 credits. You cannot have more than that to use in a given round.

LeagueHeads is first and foremost a game of sports betting skill. By capping sway usage we maintain this competitive balance while making it easier for the user to enjoy the thrill of winning bets. By pricing the maximum sway usage per week at less than the cost of a beer at a sportsbar we assure that nearly all users can afford to maximize their fun playing LeagueHeads against their friends.

Unlike traditional fantasy sports that have their playoffs occur during the end of the regular season, LeagueHeads playoffs extend through the real world playoffs in their respective sports. For instance, in professional football leagues, the LeagueHeads playoffs extend through the regular playoffs all the way through to the championship game.

Professional Football

At the end of the regular season (week 17) the top 8 teams with the best record will qualify for the playoffs.

The qualifying playoff teams will be seeded based on record, with ties broken by Season Wad (total winnings over the course of the season). The team with the best record will be seeded #1, the team with the second best record will be seeded #2, etc.

The playoff teams will each receive bonuses based on their seed. The bonuses awarded playoff teams will be as follows (in order from highest seed to lowest)

  • 1st Place: 1000
  • 2nd Place: 850
  • 3rd Place: 700
  • 4th Place: 550
  • 5th Place: 300
  • 6th Place: 200
  • 7th Place: 100
  • 8th Place: 0

The LeagueHeads playoffs are single elimination. During week one the #1 seeded team will play the #8th seeded, the #2 will play the #7, etc.

For week two the winner of the #1 vs #8 matchup will play the winner of the #4 vs #5 matchup. The winner of the #2 vs #7 matchup will play the winner of the #3 vs #6 matchup.

For Professional Football leagues:

The Championship will consist of two weeks, encompassing both the conference championships and the Super Bowl. Instead of the normal $5k bankroll, both players will be given a bankroll of $10k to wager for the two week period, plus their seeding bonus. Winnings from the conference championship weekend DO roll over and can be wagered on the Super Bowl.

For College Football Leagues

For Pro and College Football Leagues

Season Wad refers to your cumulative total winnings at any point throughout the season. Let's say you take your 5000 bankroll and through savvy betting increase it to 7500 at the end of the round. The 2500 difference will move into your Season Wad. Your Bankroll will reset to 5000 for the beginning of the next round. Over the course of the season, betting wins will add to your season wad and losses will deduct from it.

Season Wad is utilized for three main purposes:

  • Allows us to see who are the most superior bettors across all of LeagueHeads (not just within your league)
  • Serves as a tie-breaker for deciding who makes the playoffs, and for ties in a head-to-head playoff game
  • Indicates what your return on investment would be if you were making real bets!

You can be in as many as you wish. Each league/tournament entry is capped at being allowed to spend 15 credits per week, so if you're in 4 leagues/tournaments you could sway up to 15 credits in each league / tournament.

Unfortunately, you cannot. However, when creating a league you can invite as many friends as you would like. Slots in the league will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
